Flysurfer Psycho 4 (IV) 10m Review

Flysurfer sent me this kite to review for Foilzone summer 2008, since I have had the kite I have used it aggressively on sand, grass and water!

To sum  the kite up its an excellent kite for easy and fast pumpless setup which gives super high performance whatever you are doing and wherever you are riding. I just hope I will get to try it on snow sometime.

Set up...

-Role out the kite, stand on on tip whilst holding the other to get a bit of air in the kite, I only do this for about 30 seconds...
- Place my landboard/Sand/Kitesurf board on one tip and undo the bar side on into the wind (because of the angle the kite is always getting more air inside as you prepare)
- Bar and lines take me around 40 seconds to undo and make sure nothing is twisted etc. gently pull on the centre lines and the kite goes straight up through the zenith, continuing to inflate until full.
(This is the best flysurfer I have flown for initial launch, even launching under inflated it isn't punchy whilst it reaches the zenith.
Overall a couple of minutes to get the kite into the air, with no need for a ground stake or any other fixed objects...

FLYING

This is ridiculously fast (10m - fastest foil I have ever flown, and not only for its size, equally if not faster than some smaller kites)

The kite comes complete with the new high end Flysurfer Infinity Bar the bar has a complete spinning system on it which includes the 5th line also. Big rotations or kite looping the kite no longer gives tangles to the lines, just pull the bar in towards you and untwist all the lines, a simple and completely effective system.

I will need abit of time adjusting to the pop of this kite and flying style compared to my Flysurfer Speed 2 12m (this is not a bad thing but the kites are very different in style)

To be completely honest I thought... Im going to have a knot to undo in a moment when I first used the 5th line to test it. I am mighty impressed with it however, the kite comes straight down through the wind window with no pull and to relaunch just walk towards the bar, pick it up and walk/swim backwards again, the kite then unfolds and shoots back up through the window

The whole line set on the new bar spins very easily, if you loop the kite or rotate, just power it up and it unspins all the lines on the CL, much better than previous kites I have owned with spinning lines above the bar which never seem to actually unspin themselves.

- By far the fastest foil I have ever flown for its size, I think its on par with the 8m Pulse2
- Kite is very stable even in low/no winds!
- Low end is impressive due to fast turning speed
- Bar is a huge upgrade on the previous models!
- Simplified and MUCH shorter bridles, no longer than a manta, want to put it side by side with some more depower kites when I get a chance
- Float is impressive
- It is a kiteloop beast!
- The canopy changes a lot but you don't notice this really looking at the kite, although in photos it looks very differentwhen going between C/Flat.

The following video was shot the first time I ever flew the kite in very little winds!

This video was shot at Worcester Kite Park, Downlooping and Kitelooping the Kite over land.
